Iron Door Components Explained
① Handleset
A handleset is the primary hardware used to open, close, and secure your iron door. The active door panel is equipped with a functional keyed handleset, while the inactive panel features a matching dummy handleset for a balanced appearance. A separate deadbolt provides additional security and peace of mind. ② Hinges
Hinges are mounted between the door panel and frame, providing structural support and ensuring smooth, reliable operation. Heavy-duty hinges are designed to support the weight of your custom iron door while delivering long-lasting durability.
Window hinges allow the operable glass panels to open and close smoothly, improving ventilation and everyday convenience.
③ Mouting Tab
✨ Mounting Tabs:
Welded to the door frame, mounting tabs provide a secure way to anchor the frame to the rough opening using screws or anchor bolts.
✨ Pre-bored Holes:
Pre-drilled holes in the door jamb offer an alternative installation method, allowing the frame to be fastened directly to the rough opening without using mounting tabs.
④ T-astragal (Door Stop)
Mounted on the inactive door panel, the T-astragal seals the gap between double doors to reduce drafts, improve weather sealing, and enhance energy efficiency.
⑤ Flush Bolt
Installed at the top and bottom of the inactive door panel, flush bolts lock the panel securely to the frame and threshold, providing added stability, enhanced security, and proper alignment for smooth operation.
⑥ Door Sweep
Installed at the bottom of the door panel, the door sweep creates a tight weather seal to help keep out drafts, dust, insects, and moisture while improving comfort and energy efficiency.
⑦ Weather Stripping
Installed around the door frame, weather stripping creates a tight seal to help block drafts, moisture, dust, and outside noise while improving comfort and energy efficiency.
⑧ Roller Catch
Installed at the top of the door, the roller catch provides a secure, positive hold to keep the door closed without engaging the lock. It ensures smooth, quiet operation while reducing door movement and closing impact.
Roller catches are not required for doors equipped with a latch bolt lock or for pivot doors.
⑨ Welded Threshold
The welded threshold forms a durable, weather-tight seal at the bottom of the door, helping prevent water, air, and dust infiltration while improving overall door performance.
✨ Outswing: Features a flat threshold for smooth, unobstructed access while maintaining a secure weather seal.
✨ Inswing: Features a sloped threshold that channels water away from the interior, providing superior drainage and weather protection.
⑩ Window Lock
The window lock securely locks the active/operable window in place, maintaining proper compression of the weather stripping to improve weather sealing, energy efficiency, and security.

Pivot Door Hardware System
The core components are the Pivot Mechanism and the Top Pivot Hinge. Typically, they are positioned at 1/4 of the door's width.
⑭ Top Pivot Hinge
Mounted at the top of the door, the top pivot hinge works with the bottom pivot to support the door, maintain proper alignment, and ensure smooth, balanced operation.
⑮ Pivot Mechanism
Installed at the bottom of the door, the pivot mechanism supports the door's weight and controls the opening and closing motion, ensuring smooth, stable operation while reducing impact and wear.
