WHAT IS SWITCHABLE PRIVACY GLASS
Switchable Privacy Glass, also known as Smart Glass, is a revolutionary type of glass that can switch between transparent and opaque states with the flick of a switch or the press of a button. This technology allows for instant privacy control in windows, doors, partitions, and other architectural elements. It offers versatility, convenience, and modern aesthetics while enhancing energy efficiency and security in both residential and commercial spaces.
HOW DOES SWITCHABLE GLASS WORK
Switchable Glass combines electric privacy film with glass, containing liquid crystals that align to an electric field, creating transparency (On state). Without the field, the crystals scatter light, making it opaque (Off state).
It offers instant privacy with a switch flip or remote control and adds design value to spaces. Switching between states takes seconds, offering convenience and style for privacy needs.
BENEFITS
Privacy Control
Users can adjust the transparency of the glass, providing instant privacy when needed. Remove your traditional curtains.
Energy Efficiency
Smart glass can adjust sunlight, reducing heating, cooling, and lighting needs, improving energy efficiency.
UV Protection
It can block harmful UV rays, protecting furniture, artwork, and occupants from potential damage.
Security
In opaque mode, smart glass acts as a barrier, enhancing security and deterring intruders.
Aesthetics
Smart glass adds a modern and sophisticated touch to any space, enhancing its overall design aesthetic.
Versatility
It can be integrated into various architectural elements such as windows, doors, partitions, and skylights, offering flexibility in design and functionality.
User-Friendly
Smart glass can be easily controlled via switches or remote controls to cater to different preferences.
HOW DOES SMART GLASS APPLIED ON IWD DOORS
IWD doors equipped with switchable smart glass will come with a remote control and adapter (compatible with both 12V and 120V power sources). You can conveniently operate the switchable glass using the provided remote control. The wiring is discreetly concealed within the outer frame of the panel, ensuring that the power cord remains hidden and not exposed externally. The termination point of the power cord will go through the hinge and then the frame. The wiring is connected and hidden in the hinge which is covered by plastic hats (see pic below). For some designs, we will add a wire collection on the doors instead. Refer to each drawing of different doors.
P.S.: We default to equipping the doors with a remote controller and adapter only. If you need a wall switch, please procure it locally and let us know to leave a longer wire for you.
